WhatsApp now enables longer status voice notes

Instead of the previous 30 seconds, WhatsApp now allows users to share longer voice notes in status updates, up to one minute.

With the new update, users can now share more in-depth and lengthy moments, perfect for announcements and special occasions. The ability to include longer audio notes in WhatsApp status updates was released to satisfy demand.

How to use WhatsApp’s new feature

The limited length of voice notes was a major criticism of WhatsApp status. Many users have been asking for the ability to upload longer videos to their WhatsApp status, and now they can finally have their wish granted.

If you need to record more than the previous 30-second limit, this update is for you. It’s ideal for announcements, events, or any moment that demands more time.

Thanks to this new limit, people who prefer to send voice messages rather than lengthy texts can now share a few longer recordings instead of multiple short clips. Users can now easily share longer moments and stories with their loved ones

Be sure to update your app from either the Play Store or the App Store to take advantage of the new one-minute voice note feature.

Be aware that you’ll have to update the app to send one-minute voice messages. It’s not a simple server-side update, so if you want the newest features immediately, you should check for WhatsApp updates.

Holding down the mic button, as you would in chats, will allow you to record a voice note. You can cancel the recording with a simple slide if you change your mind.

WhatsApp is developing more features for status updates, like bigger preview windows in the status updates tray (at least for Android users) and longer voice notes.

Previous update to WhatsApp status

In addition to being capped at 30 seconds, certain beta users will now be able to post video status updates up to one-minute long starting in March 2024. With this update, WhatsApp now offers 60-second video status options, just like Instagram and Messenger.

At the moment, users can record a video inside WhatsApp or import an existing video from their phone’s storage to use as a status update. When it came to both cases, the 30-second limit was frequently too short for users. Documenting more in-depth ideas or capturing longer periods of time.

Because of this, longer videos don’t have to be cut into several fragmented parts. A more unified experience for users across all social media platforms is the goal of the update. Users who use Instagram and Messenger interchangeably will feel more at ease with the new WhatsApp feature, which allows them to post 60-second video status updates.
