TikTok is a social networking app that focuses on short videos that have lately gained popularity and has become the platform of choice for many youth and adults according to Statista TikTok has 1 billion monthly active users.
Recently that company seems to be working on various new features to keep the platform up to date, and on Wednesday 13/4/22 TikTok has confirmed that it is testing a feature that allows users to dislike specific comments on videos. This was confirmed in recent news they released on safety and community guidelines enforcement
The dislike is intended to let users flag content they find “irrelevant or inappropriate” without the dislike being visible to others and help make the community a bit nicer than it might otherwise be.

“We’ve started testing a way to let individuals identify comments they believe to be irrelevant or inappropriate,” TikTok wrote. “This community feedback will add to the range of factors we already use to help keep the comment section consistently relevant and a place for genuine engagement.”
How TikTok Dislike Button Will Work
This new dislike feature, on the other hand, is the first time users will be able to leave negative feedback for comments that may not be totally inappropriate, but are still not exactly helpful or appreciated.
The company also says it’s experimenting with sending reminders to creators who receive a lot of negative comments about features like comment filtering and bulk block and delete. According to TikTok, decisions on whether to fully implement the feature will be made in the coming weeks.

Users can already express their disinterest in a TikTok by long-pressing on it and selecting “not interested” from the popup menu that appears. The same goes for reporting a comment by Long-pressing on a comment and selecting “Report” is a way in which users can report it to the platform.
