Telecom Egypt, the top telecom provider in Egypt, has received Tier III Design Certification for its Regional Data Hub 2 (RDH 2) data centre. Expert teams from Uptime Institute, a global pioneer in the standardisation of digital infrastructure performance, conducted a thorough assessment and review before awarding this esteemed accreditation.
Telecom Egypt in a statement on Monday affirmed its commitment to upholding high data centre standards as evidenced by the RDH 2 certification, which builds on the achievement of RDH 1, achieved full utilisation in just one year and obtained various Tier III Uptime Institute certifications.
The design certificate ensures that RDH 2 meets the strict mechanical, electrical, structural, and site requirements and attests that the facility’s capacity and operation align with its engineering and architectural plans.

RDH 2 is a major extension to satisfy the increasing market need for safe and reliable Tier III data centre services, with an expected IT load of 4.6MW as opposed to 2.5MW for RDH 1. Telecom Egypt’s IT infrastructure is also improved by this development, providing more scalability and guaranteeing business continuity, especially for companies moving to the cloud.
Telecom Egypt enrolled for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
Telecom Egypt’s commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient data centre building is further evidenced by its enrollment in RDH 2’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation.
The internationally accepted LEED standard assesses buildings in critical areas like transportation, waste, water, energy and user experience. This initiative demonstrates Telecom Egypt’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact through resource optimisation and carbon emission reduction.
By using resource-efficient methods and sustainable design, Telecom Egypt is not only meeting its sustainability goals but also ensuring operational excellence.

RDH 2 is anticipated to be fully implemented by the end of 2025. By utilising the 13 undersea cable systems that are presently arriving on Egypt’s eastern coast—with plans to increase this number to 18 by 2025—RDH 2 will, once it is operational, further solidify Telecom Egypt’s dominance in the data centre industry in the region.
