Accelerating digital transformation
The “New Deal Technologique” focuses on several key pillars, including expanding access to high-speed internet, equipping citizens with digital skills, and fostering a vibrant ecosystem for startups and innovators.
President Faye emphasised, “The New Deal for Technology is a bold and ambitious plan that will position Senegal as a leader in Africa’s digital revolution.
By 2034, we envision a Senegal where digital technologies drive economic growth, improve service delivery, and empower our citizens to achieve their full potential”. The strategy also aims to modernise public services, making them more accessible and efficient through digital platforms.
Strengthening digital economy and sovereignty
The initiative is part of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), which aims to make Senegal a middle-income country by 2035. It includes a budget of $1.7 billion to enhance Senegal’s digital infrastructure and promote local innovation, reducing dependence on foreign technologies.
The government plans to digitise 90 percent of public services by 2034, ensuring universal internet access and supporting tech entrepreneurship in the agriculture, healthcare, and education sectors.
Minister Alioune Sall highlighted the importance of partnerships in achieving these goals, stating, “This is a collective effort that requires the involvement of all stakeholders”.
