MWC 2022: When Mobile Connectivity Meets Leadership

MWC 2022: When Mobile Connectivity Meets Leadership

Over the last few years, the Sub-Saharan African mobile industry has risen to the challenge of maintaining individuals and businesses connected during the global epidemic. Experts estimate that 615 million people in this region will register for mobile services by 2025, representing 50% of the population. And, with the implementation of 5G across the globe, Africa is acknowledging the incredibly large potential for growth and the means by which it will drive this deployment forward.

The continent’s digital growth has been fueled by the use of technology and strong and informed leadership and partnerships. Despite the global crisis, mobile has continued to lead transformation and enhance millions of lives through service delivery in healthcare, agriculture, and commerce.

Africa can advance into the digital future and accelerate economic growth by providing access to all. Furthermore, shared value thinking can drive business solutions to address Africa’s challenges through innovation. When done correctly, digital transformation can open up enormous opportunities for growing industries and commerce, enhance economic inclusion, and ultimately create sustainable economies. As a result, it is in the best interests of business owners, not just governments, to collaborate and invest in the ecological systems they require to survive and thrive.

“As we count down to the Africa Shared Value Leadership Summit in October, I have no doubt that it will be our largest to date,” said Tiekie Barnard, Founder and CEO of Shift Impact Africa and the Shared Value Africa Initiative. He went further to say, “The solution for a sustainable future for Africa is to create shared value and access for all through technology and connectivity. It is our responsibility as a company to deliver this to our employees.”

The Summit has always been committed to and supportive of cross-industry collaboration to create ecosystems of impact beyond what any single entity could achieve on its own. The collaboration with MWC Africa strengthens its position as a forum for discussing and co-creating Shared Value business solutions that drive inclusion and achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals while fostering economic growth and development. It emphasizes the importance of innovation collaboration in addressing continental problems in a sustainable manner.

The big wigs of Africa’s connectivity industry, including business leaders around the world, will be gathering in Rwanda’s capital Kigali from the 25th to the 27th of this month for the live premiere of MWC Africa. The three-day event discusses present technological trends and innovative ideas in four main categories Connectivity Leadership, One People, One Purpose, Accelerate Africa, and Fintech. Participants can expect over 120 expert speakers and 60-plus hours of curated content, according to the organizers.

The two events will take place concurrently, with interconnected programs illustrating the future of interoperability and how, when combined with a shared value mindset, it can enable economic growth and individual sustainability.
