MTN Nigeria is transforming significantly from a telecommunications company (telco) to a comprehensive technology entity, termed a TechCo, by 2025. This transformative initiative was unveiled during the Texcellence conference themed ‘Championing a Forward-thinking Africa,’ organised by CWG Plc in Lagos.
Shodunke Shoyinka, Chief Information Officer at MTN Nigeria, articulated its vision to evolve into a technology holding firm, indicating a shift away from its current telco-focused identity. Soyinka expressed, “By 2025, we envision ourselves as a bona fide technology company, transcending our current telco status.”

Mtn’s Latest Innovation On Meetings+
As part of its journey towards TechCo status, MTN Nigeria recently launched Meetings+, a user-friendly video conferencing platform developed in collaboration with Zoom and SpeechLogix. This innovative solution aims to revolutionise traditional business practices by offering SMEs efficient and seamless virtual meeting capabilities.
Meetings+ introduces flexible subscription plans, including daily, weekly, and monthly options bundled with mobile data, enabling users to conduct online engagements effortlessly. Moreover, the platform facilitates payments in Naira through MoMo or the MyMTN NG app, overcoming challenges associated with US dollar payment constraints.

Charles Okonkwo, General Manager of MTN Business, highlighted the significance of Meetings+ in shaping a more connected and prosperous future for Nigerian businesses. He emphasised the partnership’s commitment to improving accessibility and efficiency in online meetings, thereby fostering progress.
Additionally, Okonkwo emphasised that MTN’s collaboration with SpeechLogix and Zoom aligns with the company’s digital transformation journey, aimed at reshaping the traditional business landscape and transitioning into a TechCo from a Telco.
