MTN Nigeria is now accepting applications for the fourth cohort of the Media Innovation Program (MIP), set to run from May 19 to October 24, 2025. Following the success of the previous three cohorts, MTN Nigeria is funding this new group of Nigerian media practitioners, with the program taking place at the Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media and Communication.
A selection process will choose 20 Nigerian journalists from various media outlets to participate in the Media Innovation Program.
Based on the idea that innovation propels change, the MTN MIP aims to broaden participants’ perspectives and develop fresh methods for problem-solving and solution-focused media practice for both industry excellence and the good of humanity.
“SMC will leverage its extensive experience in training media professionals to equip this next cohort. And we will do this with our usual emphasis on creativity and ethics.” the school’s dean said.

4th cohort to build on the achievements of the previous three cohorts
The program’s fourth cohort will build on the achievements of the previous three cohorts to further solidify its position as the most influential training program ever offered to Nigerian journalists. Previous cohorts have demonstrated the program’s ability to positively impact beneficiaries’ careers, allowing many of them to quickly advance to new roles and responsibilities following the training. As is customary, the MTN MIP-4 will encourage innovation among its attendees to enable Nigerian media professionals to perform better at their jobs and to propel innovations that could establish and strengthen the industry’s much-needed sustainability.
There is a greater chance than ever for the program to teach participants how ICT drives the media, how the media amplifies ICT in their mutually beneficial relationship, and how the media can be powerful tools for effective diplomatic interactions.
Participants’ knowledge will be enhanced in four major areas: the telecoms industry, media innovation, writing and reporting, and media diplomacy.
