MTN Group and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), renewing their long-term partnership to promote sustainable digital development across Africa.
The agreement establishes a framework to explore opportunities in cloud-based technologies, digital infrastructure, and advanced connectivity solutions.
Huawei shared the news on its LinkedIn page on Monday, stating, “At #MWC25, MTN Group and #Huawei signed a strategic MoU to explore opportunities in advanced connectivity, cloud-based technologies, and digital infrastructure solutions. This partnership aims to drive sustainable digital development and innovation across Africa.”
MTN’s commitment to the partnership
Mazen Mroué, Group Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN, commented: “At MTN, our focus is on delivering seamless, intelligent, and inclusive digital experiences for our customers across Africa.”
He continued, “Through this collaboration with Huawei, we are exploring innovative solutions to enhance network reliability, improve service quality, and expand digital access for underserved communities.”
“By leveraging advanced connectivity and cloud technologies, we aim to empower businesses, enrich customer experiences, and accelerate Africa’s digital future,” he added.

Huawei’s commitment to the partnership
President of ICT Sales & Service and Corporate Senior Vice President of Huawei Li Peng underlined the revolutionary possibilities of the partnership stating, “Our joint initiatives in 5G-Advanced networks and AI-powered cloud platforms will create a robust foundation for Africa’s digital economy.”
“This partnership exemplifies our commitment to developing localised solutions that bridge both technological and skills gaps across the continent,” he added.
With the MoU, MTN and Huawei have entered a new stage of strategic cooperation. Both businesses will look at cutting-edge ways to boost long-term digital economic growth and quicken Africa’s digital transition.
