MTN South Africa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Telecom and Huawei to collaborate on advancing 5G, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and business solutions.
This partnership highlights MTN’s commitment to enhancing digital services across the region.

The collaboration seeks to advance the development of digital infrastructure across Africa by fusing Huawei’s cutting-edge technology, MTN’s extensive regional reach and China Telecom’s expertise in providing global network solutions.

MTN stressed that the collaboration will introduce advanced technology like the Internet of Things (IoT) to South Africa and open up new commercial prospects.
This collaboration coincides with Africa’s growing need for strong internet infrastructure to foster innovation and economic expansion.
The partnership aligns with MTN’s mission to promote technical innovation and accelerate digital transformation for the benefit of consumers and companies.
A collaborative study by Google and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) estimates that by 2025, the digital economy in Africa may boost the continent’s GDP by $180 billion thanks to a mix of better infrastructure, digital services, and increased use of digital technologies.
