Nigeria participated in the LG, HVAC competition for the first time this year at the 2023 HVAC Design Award, which was held in Korea.
The country came out on top.
The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Consultants Award Ceremony which honoured the achievements of HVAC contractors who have shown remarkable expertise in the program.
The General Manager of Air Solution for LG Electronics West Africa Operations, Mr. Joonkyu Song, has expressed his joy at the success of Nigerian HVAC consultants. During the speech he gave to welcome everyone, he mentioned the significance of the HVAC design award by saying:
“The competition was entered into by all HVAC consultants, designers, and companies across LG subsidiaries, and it grabbed my heart to see two of our consultants emerging as the winners.”
He lauded the recipients for their commitment, inventive problem-solving, and the faultless incorporation of cutting-edge technology into HVAC systems. Mr. Song praised the impact that their accomplishment had on energy efficiency and environmental consciousness, and he urged the sector to continuously innovate and be sustainable.

The efforts made towards LG’s competition
The Manager of Air Conditioning in Nigeria, Vinoth Sankar, provided some insight into the road that the consultants took in order to get to the competition. He went on to describe how, because West African consultants did not actively engage in the previous year’s competition, attempts were made to urge them to do so in the current year. Sankar expressed his contentment with the growing number of submissions and highlighted the achievements of the top two, who both won bronze awards.
The award and the gifts were presented to the winners by Mr. Song and Mr. Vijay Bakshi, who are both leaders in the commercial air conditioning industry in Nigeria and West Africa respectively. Mr. Vijay offered words of encouragement for continued involvement in upcoming activities, saying:
“We encourage you and other consultants in the market to participate more in the next year.”
Nigerian contractors’ comments
Engineer Seun Yusuf, who works for TechnoKonsult Engr & Mgt Consultants Ltd, expressed gratitude for the honor and reflected on the company’s long-standing partnership with LG.
He emphasized the importance of the collaborative design process by stating, “A lot of work from other manufacturers, but we chose LG because we believe it is one of the best.” Yusuf gave his word that the relationship would continue and thanked LG for the boost of confidence that the award bestowed.
Engineer Femi of Kenbis Technical Services expressed gratitude to LG for the award and vowed that the company would continue to use LG goods in the projects it was working on. In an expression of gratitude, he remarked, “We will continue our projects, putting them to an excellent finish, and they don’t have to worry about flaws.”
During the course of his discussion of the preparations for the following year, Mr. Vijay revealed, “We have two grants from reality, and there are some other funding sources they have completed by next year also.” He expressed hope for the future and made a veiled reference to the idea of holding the 2024 HVAC Design Award in the Republic of Korea.
At the ceremony honoring HVAC Consultants, attendees recognized not just the individual successes of the award recipients, but also the collective growth and unwavering commitment of HVAC experts throughout West Africa. The event brought awareness to the significance of innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in the HVAC sector, thereby establishing a standard for future undertakings and competitions.
