inDrive secures license to operate in Kenya

inDrive, a platform for electronic taxis, has been given the green light to begin business operations in Kenya.

This puts the company in direct competition with others in the industry, including Uber, Bolt, Yango, and others, for a portion of the cab e-hailing market in the country.

The procedure behind the service

One of the advantages that passengers have while using InDrive is that they are able to select the price of their journeys, which gives them the flexibility to suggest a price that is reasonable. The driver, on the other hand, is free to either accept the offered price, make a competing offer of their own, or turn down the offer altogether without incurring any penalties.

Remarks from the executives

“With the official licensing to operate in Kenya, inDrive is excited to contribute to the local transportation ecosystem, providing safe, reliable, and affordable mobility options to the people of Kenya

The company looks forward to partnering with local drivers and serving the community while upholding its commitment to safety and fair pricing practices.” Godfrey Mabula, inDrive’s Business Representative in Kenya remarked.

A statement released by the company stated that  ‘’Every driver applying to join inDrive undergoes comprehensive background checks, including the verification of necessary documents, licenses, and permits. This process ensures that only qualified and trustworthy individuals are approved to provide transportation services.’’

About inDrive

inDrive is a global ride-hailing service that has been downloaded more than 150 million times and is currently active in 47 countries. It is the second largest ridesharing and taxi app in the world based on the number of downloads, and its headquarters are in Mountain View, California. The business is owned by Arsen Tomsky.

The year 2013 marked the official beginning of operations for the corporation in Russia.  In 2019, it opened a branch in Lagos, which is located in Nigeria. Since it first became available, Indrive has swiftly established itself as the transportation option of choice for passengers who prioritise convenience, affordability, and dependability in their options.

It is the online transportation and ride-hailing business that is expanding at the quickest rate in the world.  Over 614 cities spread over 47 nations throughout the world are able to access the service. In October of 2022, inDriver had a name change, becoming inDrive in the process of expanding into a group of separate businesses.

Although many on-demand taxi applications, such as Uber and OLA, and many more, follow numerous revenue models in their business operations, InDrive’s method of making money is straightforward yet highly profitable.

There are multiple ways in which Bolt and Uber differ from InDrive’s services. In addition to the price strategy, the commission that is required is significantly less than what is required by the rival companies. Rides purchased through inDrive are subject to a commission fee of 8%. In comparison, Uber deducts 25% from rates, and Bolt charges 15%.

There is a base fare that must be paid to use InDriver; this fare may be the same everywhere in the city, or it may change based on the route, but it will never be more than a substantial amount less than the average price of competing services.
