Huawei is capturing the tech market’s attention since it is about to release its new tri-fold smartphone, Mate XT. It will launch on September 10, 2024, a day after Apple unveils the new iPhone 16 series.
In terms of design, this innovative gadget stands out from all the existing foldable phones due to its unique 10-inch screen, which opens up to become more prominent.
It is also made during a more significant event, where the main focus is a presentation of Huawei’s new hardware to draw the audience’s interest and attention.

Unfolding the potential of the Huawei Mate XT
The Huawei Mate XT is a device that easily folds three times, depicting the mobile phone’s size and making it identical to a tablet. This tri-fold design should make the device users happy since they will have a device that can easily be tucked into their pockets and, at the same time, offer a larger screen for productivity and entertainment.
Hence, according to the leaked pictures and reports, the device will come with a Kirin 9 series chipset with 16G RAM coupled with 512G space for storage, thus enhancing multitasking on the device.
Reports on the phone’s features suggest a quad-camera array with a periscope module for its photographic capabilities. Huawei focuses on design, as the Mate XT will be part of the company’s Ultimate Design series, which now is a brand for premium products. The expected price in China is expected to be around CNY 16,888, which will be equivalent to approximately $2,250.

Huawei’s impact on the smartphone revolution
Unfortunately, the Mate XT has yet to be launched in international markets, mainly because of the trade ban on Huawei in several countries, such as the U.S.; however, there is no doubt that this device, if launched in different markets such as Europe, will offer a new generation of foldable phones with different features and designs.
Both Samsung and Xiaomi have also joined the tri-fold revolution, and with Huawei incorporating this in their series, one can presume more innovation will be seen in the future of folds.
The launch event is scheduled for 10 September, which is reasonably expected as it comes from Apple’s iPhone 16 unveiling, which means Huawei stands to benefit from it.
Huawei’s tri-fold device is pioneering in the smartphone market, and with the company already launching this new form factor to the world, there are indications that the firm is striving to revolutionise the market and mobile phone technology.
