Glovo becomes Chicken Republic's "key" web platform

Glovo becomes Chicken Republic’s “key” web platform

Glovo has entered into a partnership with Chicken Republic, the most successful quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand in Nigeria.

This partnership will give Glovo “a key platform for Chicken Republic customers ordering online,” the company that provides food delivery services stated in a statement.

The partnership’s terms

With this collaboration, customers can now order the Chicken Republic online exclusively through the Glovo app. Even though Chicken Republic has more than 300 stores in Nigeria, the relationship only works in cities where the food delivery service is active, such as Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan.

“Through this partnership, Glovo hopes to improve the experience for Chicken Republic customers who order online, from the time they place their order to the time they receive their food,” the company said in a statement.

“Glovo operates in 58 Chicken Republic stores across Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan, and this partnership will drive customer access and convenience to Chicken Republic while expanding its own customer base. Glovo has been expanding with Chicken Republic since May 2022. The statement claims Glovo has led the Nigerian business for two years.

The three largest Nigerian food delivery firms, Jumia Food, Bolt Food, and Glovo, all used to deliver Chicken Republic orders before the company’s statement.

How will this affect Glovo?

Glovo, which has only been in the Nigerian market for about two years, will now have more tasks to meet the high demand for QSR brands like Chicken Republic as a preferred choice.

It also changes the rules a lot in the race to be the best food delivery service in Nigeria, where free delivery and discounts confuse people.

“Glovo has strengthened its position as the market leader in on-demand commerce in Nigeria by forming a major partnership with Chicken Republic, the country’s largest quick-service restaurant chain with more than 300 locations,” says part of the statement.

“Starting in August, the strategic partnership will make Glovo an important site for customers of Chicken Republic who order online. Chicken Republic made the decision because it wanted to improve customer satisfaction and streamline its partnerships in the area.

Chicken Republic’s parent business, Food Concepts’ Kofi Abunu, said, “As the top quick-service restaurant in Nigeria, it’s important to work with companies like Glovo that share our goal of giving customers great experiences.” It should improve our work and deliveries.”

“Since we first worked with Chicken Republic in May 2022, we’ve shown that we can give their customers fast and excellent service,” said Lamide Akinola, Glovo Nigeria’s general manager. So we’re thrilled that Chicken Republic, Nigeria’s greatest quick-service restaurant, chose us.

Glovo’s rise

This agreement raises doubts about Glovo’s food delivery dominance in a country with major structural barriers. Glovo can buy additional motorbikes and bicycles to accommodate demand, but traffic in Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan is unavoidable.

Akinola must find a solution to solve that one problem, especially now that the platform will have more orders, to make this relationship work and keep consumers pleased with on-time deliveries.

The partnership with Chicken Republic extends to Ghana. Glovo said it will also soon roll out a similar deal with Chicken Republic in other African markets.
