Ghana Film Authority, FilmOne, Silverbird to host cinema summit

The National Film Authority of Ghana is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with FilmOne Group (Nigeria) and Silverbird Cinema (Ghana),  to host the first Africa Cinema Summit (ACS), which is scheduled to take place from November 14th to the 16th at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel and Silverbird Cinema in Accra, Ghana.

The event is being organized by the National Film Authority of Ghana.

The Summit represents an important turning point in the annals of the African film industry’s long and illustrious past. The objective of the summit is to bring together players in the film industry from all over the world in order to promote growth, innovation, and collaboration. The summit will provide a forum for meaningful business conversations within the industry, as well as the exchange of opportunities and strategic collaborations.

The move to initiate. The event’s promoters claim that it is the first gathering of its kind to take place on the African continent and that its primary objective is to drive the ecosystem of African film to greater heights.

According to UNESCO, Africa is by far the most neglected continent in terms of cinema distribution. The organisation estimates that there are a total of 1,653 theatres across the continent servicing 1.3 billion people.

“By delving into the multifaceted dimensions of the African cinema landscape, attendees will witness in-depth panel discussions, keynote speeches, and presentations by experts and major decision makers in the industry. A major focus will be given to the current trends, unique challenges, and exceptional opportunities inherent to African cinema and other distribution networks.”

“The summit will offer the opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and forging strategic alliances with influential stakeholders, African film authorities and commissions, cinema developers, suppliers, distributors, real estate professionals, seasoned producers, cutting-edge technology providers and many more across the globe. This will create an unparalleled platform for fostering valuable connections and mutual growth,” the organisers added.
