WorldRemit and Hello Paisa, two companies specializing in international digital money transfers, have announced that they will work together to offer cash pickup services all around Zimbabwe. This deal, which started on July 27, 2022, lets people in Zimbabwe get money sent to them in US dollars at around 120 Hello Paisa payment stations all over the country.
Members of the Zimbabwean diaspora can quickly send money back to their families in Zimbabwe through this system. Their family members can then receive and withdraw the money through an extensive cash pickup network available in rural and peri-urban areas.
The amount of money that Zimbabweans living abroad send back home has been gradually increasing over the past few years. The total amount of money entering Zimbabwe in 2021 was $1.430 billion, a 43 percent increase over the impressive figure of $1.002 billion recorded in 2020. According to a report that WorldRemit just published, as of June 1, 2022, users from around the world have sent close to £170,000,000 to Zimbabwe this year.
This relationship will make it easier for people in the Zimbabwean diaspora to send money home, which will help their home country’s economy grow. In a continuing effort to make international money transfers accessible and affordable, this partnership will help facilitate these transfers. As a result of WorldRemit’s partnership with Hello Paisa, the company’s network of places to pick up cash has grown to include more than 640 locations across all of Zimbabwe.
