Samsung’s January 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event, held on Wednesday in San Francisco and other nations across the globe, brought a wave of excitement, unveiling its much-anticipated Galaxy S25 series, the ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge, and its cutting-edge first-generation augmented reality (AR) glasses. Here’s everything you need to know about this cutting-edge showcase.
The Galaxy S25 Series
Samsung has raised the bar with the Galaxy S25 series, which includes the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and the premium S25 Ultra. Each model pushes the limits of innovation while refining features that users love.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite 8 processor, the S25 series offers a 40 percent performance boost over the previous generation. With 12GB of RAM, the devices ensure faster multitasking and smoother performance.
All models are Qi2 Ready, featuring magnetic charging technology that provides up to 15W wireless charging for added convenience. The devices also come with Corning Gorilla Armor 2, offering enhanced durability and the ability to survive drops from up to 2.2 meters.
Galaxy S25 Ultra
The Galaxy S25 Ultra, starting at $1,299.99, delivers a blend of luxury and practicality. With its signature S Pen, Samsung has refined the stylus experience for greater accuracy and comfort, catering to both productivity enthusiasts and creatives. The Ultra’s 31-hour video playback capability also highlights its focus on battery longevity, making it a powerhouse device for heavy users.
The design itself stands out, with a sleeker, curvier profile that combines style and function, promising an ergonomic grip and a premium feel in hand.

Samsung AI
A major highlight of the event was the integration of Google Gemini, Google’s next-gen AI platform, into the Galaxy S25 lineup. Gemini brings seamless multitasking and deeper personalisation to the devices.
The AI platform offers intelligent recommendations, allowing users to request a list of nearby restaurants and receive suggestions, details, and even table reservations with a single command. It also features multimodal capabilities, enabling users to combine voice and touch inputs for tasks like editing photos or sending messages.
Additionally, the Galaxy S25’s camera AI is enhanced with Samsung’s Best Face feature, which allows users to swap faces in group photos for perfect shots, similar to Google’s Best Take.
Additionally, Galaxy S25 users will enjoy six months of Gemini Advanced for free, giving them a premium AI experience at no extra cost.
Galaxy S25 Edge
Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slim marvel designed for users who crave minimalism without compromise. Measuring just 6.4mm thin, the Edge is poised to become one of the thinnest smartphones on the market, while still packing a powerful two-camera setup.
While details remain scarce, the Edge hints at Samsung’s focus on delivering high performance in a compact, stylish package. With its streamlined design, the Edge may appeal to those looking for a lightweight yet powerful smartphone option.
AR glasses
Samsung’s foray into augmented reality was another highlight of the event. The company offered a sneak peek at its upcoming AR glasses, developed in partnership with Google. These glasses are set to integrate seamlessly with the Galaxy ecosystem, offering real-time notifications, navigation, and productivity tools directly in the user’s field of view.
This announcement comes alongside Project Moohan, Samsung’s first Android-based XR headset, designed for immersive experiences in virtual and augmented reality. Together, these devices signal Samsung’s intent to compete with major players like Apple and Meta in the race for AR dominance.
Sustainability
Samsung reinforced its commitment to sustainability, announcing plans to recycle cobalt from old batteries and extend the lifespan of devices. The Galaxy S25 series also boasts eco-friendly materials, ensuring that cutting-edge technology aligns with a greener future.
The Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event showcased Samsung’s continued commitment to innovation, with a focus on AI, sustainability, and groundbreaking hardware. As the Galaxy S25 series hits stores on February 7, and with AR glasses on the horizon, Samsung is setting the tone for a tech-driven year.
