Tanzania to host sixth annual Ocean Innovation Africa Summit

The sixth edition of the Ocean Innovation Africa Summit is set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from February 24 to 28, 2025. 

This announcement was made on November 20, 2024.

This summit is a pivotal event within the framework of Regenerative Ocean Week, which aims to promote sustainable development and innovation in Africa’s blue economy.

Collaborative efforts for ocean sustainability

Co-organised by notable partners such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and GIZ, the summit will gather diverse stakeholders, including ocean innovators, investors, researchers, and policymakers. The theme, “Science-to-Solution,” emphasises bridging the gap between scientific research and practical applications. As a summit representative stated, “This event is crucial for fostering collaboration and innovative approaches to ocean conservation.”

Highlighting innovation through competition

One of the key features of OIA2025 will be the OIA Pitch Competition, which provides a platform for African startups to showcase their ocean-impact solutions. The competition aims to inspire innovative solutions that address critical challenges within the ocean ecosystem.
