Qualcomm announces 10 African startup companies for mentorship program

Qualcomm has revealed the names of the ten companies that will be taking part in the very first iteration of its Make in Africa startup mentorship programme. 

The Qualcomm Africa Innovation Platform, which was introduced in December 2022, is a part of the programme that is being discussed here. 

In the fields of sustainable energy, agricultural technology, computing for education, geospatial predictive analysis, medical technologies, and advancements for electric vehicles, these startups are producing cutting-edge goods.

Concerning the Programming

Mentoring in business planning, engineering, intellectual property protection, and the application of sophisticated connectivity, sensing, AI/ML, and other processing technologies for the creation of creative end-to-end systems solutions will be provided to the Qualcomm Make In Africa businesses free of charge and without the expectation of equity in return.

In addition to providing masterclasses on product management, pitch clinics, intellectual property rights, and hardware architecture, Qualcomm Make in Africa will provide one-on-one mentorship for the shortlisted firms with Qualcomm experts on a regular cadence. This is intended to drive startups towards product realisation. The programme was announced in December 2022.

The programme will reach its conclusion with a finale demo day in December 2023, during which participants will have the opportunity to network with various industry leaders, venture capitalists, investors, and other accelerators.
