In a significant push towards sustainable agrifood systems, the World Food Forum (WFF) has opened applications for its prestigious 2024 Startup Innovation Awards.
The awards, in collaboration with the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), are set to recognise and empower entrepreneurs and innovators leveraging technology to reshape agrifood systems and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The 2024 WFF Startup Innovation Awards theme is “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow,” emphasising the need for sustainable and equitable food solutions that can serve the current and future generations.

The awards offer many benefits to the finalists, including a travel allowance to attend the finals in Rome, global visibility, and opportunities to raise capital.
Finalists will also have the chance to network with influential entities such as governments, United Nations agencies, corporations, investors, and partners. Moreover, they will be invited to join WFF startup accelerator programs to scale their innovative solutions and technological breakthroughs. A total prize pool of USD 30,000 is set to be distributed among the winners.
The WFF Startup Innovation Awards was officially launched this May during the UN STI Forum, with announcements on the website and social media platforms.
The deadline for new applications is June 8 2024, marking the final day for startups to submit their entries.
The WFF-XTC selection team will review the June – October 2024 applications and shortlist an initial group of startups. These startups will be highlighted on the WFF website and participate in the September semi-finals.
