    InterSAT Renews its Agreement with SES for Capacity on the Latter’s Satellite

    InterSAT, one of Africa’s largest internet service providers, has renewed and upgraded its SES capacity contract. The multi-year agreement will provide its dependents all over the continent with affordable internet access.

    The two companies first partnered in 2010, and during that time, they expanded reliable connectivity services across the African continent, reaching locations that previously had no access to telecom services and bridging the digital gap.

    Giving his statement about the agreement between InterSAT and SES, Hanif Kassam, CEO of InterSAT said: “Together with SES, we have helped empower entrepreneurs to grow, transform and digitize their businesses through the development of smart and custom-made solutions throughout the continent. SES is a reliable partner to work with, and we can always count on their support to provide the best for our customers.”

    By the terms of this agreement, SES’s NSS-12 satellite, located at 57 degrees East, will enable InterSat to securely and efficiently serve its government institutions and enterprise customers.

    InterSAT Communication Services has chosen ST Engineering iDirect to provide a significant technology upgrade that will help InterSAT deliver enhanced services to its customers across the African continent.

    The company will start to deliver mobile connectivity services to the rail and maritime sectors to connect users on the move.

    InterSAT serves a portfolio of different verticals, providing essential satellite-based connectivity across the entire African continent to NGOs, SMEs, governments, oil and gas companies, and the broadcast sector. The company is focused on offering leading-edge connectivity, investing heavily in state-of-the-art technology that makes service delivery better and faster.

    This upgrade will allow InterSAT to leverage new technologies and efficiencies to remain competitive in an increasingly challenging market.

    The company is also breaking into the Outside Broadcast (OB) market, offering contribution links to media houses, and has kitted out its own OB demonstration truck.

    These features allow InterSAT to optimise its space segment utilisation and remain competitive in the African market by pursuing new opportunities whilst benefiting from powerful performance and efficiencies driven by DVB-S2X and Adaptive TDMA.
