The Nigerian health technology firm Clafiya successfully closed a $610,000 pre-seed funding round. It provides complete healthcare services, in areas like online doctor appointments, medication delivery, and collaboration with HMOs.
Clafiya provides consultations, health education, fast diagnostic tests for malaria and typhoid, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, and screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, and blood sugar. It also provides in-person maternity care testing.
Investors such as Norrsken Accelerator, Acquired Wisdom Fund (AWF), Hustle Fund, Voltron Capital, Microtraction, Ajim Capital, HoaQ, Bold Angel Fund, the Shivdasani Family, and other angel investors participated in the round, which was a combination of venture capital funds, angel investments, and grants. According to the firm, the funds will be utilised toward product development and staff growth.

Providing comprehensive healthcare solution
Launched in 2021, Clafiya has branches in both Lagos and Enugu. It links people in need of medical care with doctors and nurses so that they may obtain it without having to travel for appointments or take time off work. “During the virtual consultation, the patient is connected to a doctor via video call, making it feel like an online clinic has come to their home,” said Jennie Nwokoye, CEO of Clafiya, in an interview with TechCabal.
In addition to consultations, Clafiya’s partner network also provides wellness and healthcare services. “Our initial goal was to bring healthcare to those who preferred not to visit hospitals.” Nwokoye explains that at first, they merely operated an on-line pharmacy, but as more and more clients asked for help with things like medicine delivery, diagnostics, and mental health services, they morphed into an online primary healthcare clinic.
By facilitating doorstep delivery of medications, the platform relieves patients of the burden of making frequent trips to the pharmacy. The firm provides a comprehensive healthcare solution, which includes the collecting of samples for diagnostic tests right from patients’ homes. Users of Clafiya are linked to local fitness centres, nutritionists, spas, and other providers of health and wellness-related services. This is accomplished by collaboration with other businesses in the industry; such as i-Fitness, Khairo Diet Clinic, Blueroomcare, Pharmarun, and Famasi Africa.

The company’s original aim was to provide easier access to quality medical care by connecting individuals with verified doctors and other specialists.
Nwokoye, however, claims that the business has adapted its approach as it engages with people and the market.
In order to deliver a comprehensive healthcare experience, Clafiya is building a digital primary care facility with the patient as the major emphasis and cooperating with pharmacies, diagnostic centres, mental health services, hospitals, and health experts.
It is also introducing its business-to-business (B2B) solution, which facilitates the establishment of health savings accounts by enterprises for the purpose of providing primary healthcare to their workers.
The widespread practice of treating minor ailments at home, which is common among Nigerians, is one obstacle Clafiya must overcome. The company’s founder, however, has said, “Our priority lies in building trust with our customers and ensuring they receive the best possible experience.” Clafiya’s mission is to progressively alter patients’ healthcare-seeking behavior and promote responsible healthcare use by placing an elevated value on patients’ experiences.
