Google introduces video series on Playstore

Google,  the biggest search engine, has introduced an original video series titled “The Play Report” to help users discover new apps; the series will also be available on the Play Store.

The business has announced that it would begin displaying these movies on the Play Store homepage for a subset of users in the United States. These videos will be made available for other users to watch on the Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts that are associated with Google Play.

These videos may be YouTube Shorts, according to the appearance of a GIF that was published on the firm’s blog post, although the company did not state this particular fact officially. A practical install icon for the programme that is being discussed in the video will also be displayed to users in addition to the video itself.

According to big search engines, each episode will highlight a different app with commentary from industry professionals, app designers, and even Google personnel.

    Achievements of Google through Shorts

It is important to note that the Play Store already enables developers to attach YouTube videos as part of their app’s media assets, which can be found on the listing page for the app. It is unclear at this time whether the search engine will extend the support for short videos on Play Store to additional creators or developers outside the scope of this programme. The Android manufacturer also failed to disclose whether the featured apps are selected by the firm itself or by the app’s creators themselves.

Already, Google has reaped a significant amount of success because to Shorts. The firm reported that more than 2 billion people who are logged in each month are viewing Shorts in July, during the results call for the company’s Q3 2023 fiscal quarter. Google’s utilisation of the short video format as a tool to assist in app discovery is being expanded to include the Play Store.

    About Google

Google is a multinational technological business based in the United States, which specialises in artificial intelligence, internet advertising, search engine technology, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing, e-commerce, and consumer electronics.

Because of its dominant position in the market, extensive data collecting, and technological advantages in the field of artificial intelligence, it has been called “the most powerful company in the world” and is considered to be one of the most valuable brands in the world. One of the Big Five technology corporations is Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google. The other four Big Tech businesses are Amazon, Apple Inc., Meta Platforms, and Microsoft.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two American computer scientists, established the search engine on September 4, 1998. At the time, both men were pursuing doctoral degrees in computer science at Stanford University in California. Together, they own around 14% of its publicly listed shares, and because they have super-voting stock, they control 56% of the company’s stockholder voting power. In 2004, the business had its initial public offering (IPO), which marked the beginning of its public existence.

In 2015, Google underwent a restructuring that resulted in the company becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. Alphabet’s major subsidiary, Google, also serves as a holding company for the various internet-related businesses and interests owned by Alphabet.

On October 24, 2015, Larry Page stepped down from his position as CEO of Google to take over as CEO of Alphabet. Sundar Pichai succeeded Page as CEO of Google. Pichai was appointed as the next CEO of Alphabet on the 3rd of December, 2019.

  • YouTube seeks to prevent medical misinformation

YouTube seeks to prevent medical misinformation

For the purpose of assisting people in the United Kingdom to avoid harmful medical misinformation on the internet, YouTube has introduced a verification mechanism for medical experts living in the UK.

In the year 2021, users located in the United Kingdom accounted for more than two billion video views of clips on health issues.

In an effort to combat the spread of inaccurate information, YouTube has introduced a new verification badge that will be affixed to the profiles of medical professionals and organisations, such as licenced physicians, registered nurses, psychologists, and other health-related professionals and companies.

    Remark from YouTube executive

Dr Vishaal Virani, head of UK health for YouTube, stated that the transition to verified health videos for users in the United Kingdom was essential due to the large number of people in the United Kingdom who receive healthcare information through the video-sharing platform.

Virani told the BBC, “Whether we like it or not, whether we want it or not, whether the health industry is pushing for it or not, people are accessing health information online. We need to do as good a job as possible to bring rigour to the content that they are subsequently consuming when they start their care journey online.”

    The implementation

In June, the verification system started accepting applications from healthcare practitioners living in the UK who already held a valid medical licence.

Accounts that submitted their films for the verification process are now beginning to see a mark of authenticity on YouTube next to their channel names.

This would help to make it as simple as possible for people to determine whether the material they are viewing came from a trained medical expert.

When submitting their accounts, potential health makers are subjected to a stringent and multi-step verification process that is carried out in collaboration with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and the National Health Service.

Creators in the health industry have their older videos reviewed as well; however, they do not receive verification when it comes to whether or not their older movies have contained any medically inaccurate content.

    About YouTube

YouTube is a website that allows users to upload, share, and view videos online. Its headquarters are located in San Bruno, California, in the United States. On February 14, 2005, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim were the ones who first made it available to users all around the world.

It is the second most frequented website in the world, behind only Google Search, and it is owned by Google. More than 2.5 billion people log in to YouTube on a monthly basis, and those users watch more than one billion hours of video content every single day. As of the month of May 2019, the rate at which videos were being uploaded to platforms like YouTube was greater than 500 hours of content each minute.

YouTube has evolved beyond its basic website to include mobile apps, network television, and the ability to link with other platforms ever since it was purchased by Google. Music videos, video clips, news, short films, feature films, songs, documentaries, movie trailers, teasers, live streams, vlogs, and many more types of video content can be found in YouTube’s various video categories.

The vast majority of video on YouTube is produced by individual users, including joint efforts between YouTubers and commercial advertisers. Established media conglomerates such as Disney, Paramount, NBCUniversal, and Warner Bros. Discovery have all established and grown their own corporate YouTube channels in order to sell their products to a wider audience.

The societal influence that YouTube has had is unprecedented, as seen by its power to shape popular culture and internet trends and its role in the creation of celebrities worth several millions of dollars.

In spite of its expansion and success, it has been subjected to widespread criticism for allegedly aiding in the dissemination of false information and the sharing of content that is protected by intellectual property rights; routinely violating the privacy of its users; facilitating censorship; putting the health and safety of children in jeopardy; and for the inconsistent or incorrect implementation of platform guidelines.

  • WhatsApp Screen Sharing Features: a guide

WhatsApp Screen Sharing Features: a guide

Screen sharing has been added to WhatsApp, making it much simpler to conduct online meetings and sessions for providing technical support over the platform. This is a fantastic method for displaying essential files or presentations during a video call without having actually to transfer or send the content itself.

There are a few things you need to bear in mind before you begin using the screen-sharing tool that WhatsApp offers.

Only during video calls, including group video calls, is it possible to share your screen using WhatsApp. During calls that are limited to voice only, the choice will not be displayed.

When you share your screen using WhatsApp, it will only show the material that is now displayed on your phone. There will be no transmission of any audio coming from the application during the call.

You can begin a screen-sharing session in WhatsApp regardless of whether the other person is using an iPhone or an Android device.

Anyone who is participating in a group video call has the ability to initiate a screen-sharing session. However, at any given time, you can only share your screen with a single other person.

When you begin a screen-sharing session, the camera on your device will continue to function normally.

Screen-sharing content on WhatsApp is encrypted for additional protection and security, just as the company’s chats and phone conversations.

In order to convert to a different layout for screen sharing, you can rotate your phone so that it is in landscape mode. Additionally, you need turn on the auto-rotate functionality of your phone.

Screen sharing during Video Call on WhatsApp android

Screen sharing in WhatsApp for Android is supported on virtually all newer smartphones; all that is required for it to function is casting permission.

Follow these procedures in order to share your screen while participating in a video call:

Start a video call with the person you wish to share your screen with, and then share your screen with them.

Tap the Share button located in the bottom action bar of the screen that displays the video call.

Tap the Continue button on the top of the WhatsApp dialogue box that opens if this is your first time sharing your screen.

Simply provide WhatsApp casting access by tapping the Start button immediately. This enables screen sharing.

After this, we will get started with the screen-sharing session.

Keep in mind that the other people on the call can see the content that is displayed on your screen, including sensitive information such as passwords and images. When you screen share, you should constantly be cautious of what you are doing on your phone. Before beginning a screen-sharing session over WhatsApp, you need first to make sure that your Android phone is configured to use the Do Not Disturb feature and that it is turned on.

You are able to terminate the screen sharing session at any time by hitting the screen share icon once more while on the video conference screen.

Screen sharing on WhatsApp for iPhone

Sharing the screen from your iPhone during a video conversation over WhatsApp is accomplished in a manner that is analogous to that of FaceTime, Zoom, or Google Meet.

To share the screen on your iPhone while you’re in a video conversation with WhatsApp, follow these steps:

You can share the screen of your iPhone with another person by initiating a video call with that person.

On the screen for the video call, at the bottom action bar of WhatsApp, tap the Share button, which is the second from the left.

A dialogue box labelled Screen Broadcast will now be visible. Tap the button here to begin the broadcast.

Screen sharing will begin after a countdown that appears on your screen and lasts for three seconds.

Tap the green icon that is located in the top-left corner of the status bar on your iPhone in order to terminate the screen-sharing session. When the dialogue box that displays, tap the Stop button. The video call will go on as usual; the screen-sharing session is the only thing that will cease.

The addition of screen sharing will make your life simpler if you frequently utilise WhatsApp video chats to hold online lectures or meetings.

Even while other applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and others also provide screen sharing, you might find it more convenient to utilise WhatsApp for short screen-sharing sessions rather than switching to a different app.

  • WhatsApp introduces screen-sharing feature, competes with Microsoft, Zoom, Google

WhatsApp introduces screen-sharing feature, competes with Microsoft, Zoom, Google

Screen sharing is WhatsApp‘s newest addition, which was released in August, 2023 as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of the video-calling experience on its platform.

With this update, WhatsApp is taking on established video conferencing applications such as FaceTime from Apple, Google Meet, and Microsoft Meet.

The new function, which was revealed in the morning by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, through a post on Facebook and on his Instagram channel, will make it possible for you to share your papers, images, and even your shopping cart with contacts who are present on video conversations.

    How to access the feature

The ability to share your screen over WhatsApp may be accessible by tapping or selecting the “Share” icon. This feature was initially offered for some beta testers on Android in late May. Users have the option of sharing either a certain app or their complete screen with other people. This operates in a manner very comparable to how screen sharing functions on common video-conferencing services such as Google Meet and Zoom.

A media outlet was informed by WhatsApp that the screen-sharing capability has been rolling out in stages on all supported platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop. That implies there is a possibility that you will not see the feature right away, but you should shortly.

Alongside the introduction of screen sharing, WhatsApp also introduced support for video calling in Landscape mode. This new mode provides a wider and more immersive viewing experience compared to the Portrait mode that was previously available. Support for the Landscape mode can also be useful when using the platform’s screen sharing functionality.

WhatsApp has supported video calling for more than six years, with the feature first becoming available to all users of the app in November of 2016. However, in order to maintain its standing in the market and remain competitive, the instant messaging software is progressively enhancing the quality of its service.

Recent updates to WhatsApp’s iOS app have included support for picture-in-picture mode for video calls. Additionally, it made it possible to send and receive brief video messages within conversations, which is significant given that video in general has become an essential mode of communication for many users.

The ability to share one’s screen has been an essential component of video-conferencing apps for some time now, including ones designed specifically for consumers. Apple, for instance, improved the functionality of its FaceTime service in 2021 by introducing SharePlay, which allowed users of iOS devices to directly share their screens. The functionality of this feature is now available to desktop, Android, and iOS users thanks to recent updates made by WhatsApp.

    WhatsApp Chatbot helps business growth

    WhatsApp long term goal

WhatsApp’s long-term goal is to become a multinational, cross-platform alternative to FaceTime. On November 14, 2016, the messaging service WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, will officially launch video calling for its more than one billion users across the world on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. A number of users recently discovered that the feature was activated in beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and for Windows Phones, which was a sign that a public debut was on the horizon. Its introduction to the public comes after a string of reports from those people.

Users of WhatsApp can access the new feature by clicking the call icon located in the upper right corner of a discussion. This will bring up an overlaid interstitial that will question the user if they want to make a voice call or a video call to the friend or family member they are now conversing with. To initiate the video call, all you need to do is select the “video call” option that’s available on this screen.

During the actual call, you can choose to use the camera facing front or the camera facing back, you can mute the call, or you can end the conversation by pressing the red button. It appears that the user interface for Android and iPhone differs slightly in terms of the location where the picture-in-picture video feed is presented, as well as the size of the buttons, their order, and their placement.

WhatsApp already provides a number of functions that are considered to be standard for communications apps. These features include voice calling and group texting. However, according to the firm, video calling continues to be one of the most often requested features by customers.

ChatGPT launches Android in the US, Brazil, India, others

OpenAI‘s ChatGPT app is now available for Android devices in four (4) countries.

The company says that Android users in the U.S., India, Brazil, and Bangladesh can now download the app from the Google Play Store. Nigeria and other countries can keep an eye out, as the company said that more countries will be added gradually.

This new update from the AI company comes after ChatGPT’s release on iOS two months ago. For iPhone users, OpenAI ChatGPT was first made available in the United States.

According to the app’s page on the Google Play Store, the app is free, and Android users only need to sync their information across devices to use the latest OpenAI features as they become available.

Digital Trends says that when OpenAI filed a listing for the Android app in the Google Play Store, it was a sign that it was almost done. On the previous day, an “install” button appeared, letting people download it.

Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz invested in a $300 million share sale in April at a valuation of $27–29 billion. Microsoft’s $10 billion investment in OpenAI, the year’s largest AI investment, expanded its cooperation.

    More on OpenAI’s ChatGPT

Open AI is a company based in San Francisco that is a leader in artificial intelligence study and deployment.

It was founded in December 2015. The company gave its workers shares of stock and formed a partnership with Microsoft, announcing an investment worth $1 billion. Since then, OpenAI systems have been running on a Microsoft platform for computing that is built on Azure.

The AI model in ChatGPT was trained with data from the internet, so it may sometimes be wrong and could also spread private information.

In this case, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently looked into the company after some users said that the robot broke rules about data privacy and spread incorrect information. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, said that his company would work with the FTC to show that the technology behind ChatGPT and other goods is “safe and pro-consumer.”

The commission also asked the company for information about its products and its marketing plan, as well as details about how new products are made ready for sale. The FTC came to the conclusion that if OpenAI is ever found guilty of the claims, the commission will take steps like making a “consent decree” deal.

Several companies are said to have used ChatGPT to simplify processes and make them run more smoothly. ChatGPT has also helped business clients because it can be changed to fit their needs.

The fact that OpenAI is making an AI app shop helps the company stand out in the AI field, which is very competitive. Since it started, the company has been successful, which has led other companies to use AI robots in their own work.

Again, the West African nation of Nigeria has beaten the rest of the world to the punch when it comes to access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence software.

Nigeria was the first African country to receive access to the Chatbot after it was released for iOS in May.

Former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman once met with key players in Nigeria’s tech scene during an event held at Lagos’s Muson Centre.

The goal of the event was to make artificial intelligence technology more widely available across Africa, therefore speakers at the event highlighted new technologies and strategies to engage with the African tech community.

The Values and Mistakes of ChatGPT

Since its release, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has attracted a lot of interest thanks to its outstanding applications. The Android version was just released last week, and the company said it will be available in 16 countries around the world.

    The Value of ChatGPT

Effectiveness: It can handle more data than a person could and respond to it quickly.

ChatGPT is accessible at any hour of the day or night, every day of the year. Those in urgent need of help or information would appreciate this.

ChatGPT’s flexibility comes from its ability to cover a wide range of subjects. It has a wide range of applications, from FAQs to customer service.

Accuracy: The information provided by ChatGPT is generally correct. It’s capable of providing replies that are grounded in a wealth of facts.

    Mistakes in ChatGPT

ChatGPT may be biassed according to the training data it was given. ChatGPT might be biased if the data it was trained on was itself biased.

ChatGPT’s information delivery may lack context at times. The complexity of human discourse and interaction may be beyond its comprehension, resulting in inappropriate reactions.

ChatGPT might not have access to all the data required to offer a complete answer. This could be because of restrictions imposed by the training data or by the nature of the question being asked.

Due to its limits in understanding human language, ChatGPT may misunderstand your inquiries or statements. This may result in incorrect assessments or miscommunications.

Offering information and “help” is a breeze with this handy tool.

The chatbot app is now available for download on Android devices in Nigeria. Users in other African nations, such as Kenya and South Africa, will likely get the app soon.

    About Facebook and Instagram

The American tech giant Meta Platforms owns Facebook, an online social media and networking tool. Mark Zuckerberg made it in 2004.

Facebook is a website where people can create free profiles and meet online with friends, coworkers, and people they don’t know. It lets people share photos, songs, videos, articles, and their own ideas and thoughts with as many people as they want.

By signing up, you can connect to the world and get all the information you need. You can find your friends and ask them to connect. You can tell all of your friends about every part of your personal life. It gives you a way to talk to other people.

Digital ads are its main way of making money. Because of the huge number of users and the spread of social media, advertisers big and small see Meta as a great place to show ads to viewers.

Instagram is a free app for iPhone and Android that lets you share photos and videos. People can add photos or videos to our service and share them with their followers or a small group of friends. They can also look at, write on, and like Instagram posts that their friends have shared.

With 1,000 followers, an Instagram account makes an average of $1,420 per month and up to $100 per paid post. But Instagram doesn’t pay influencers directly, so even if you don’t have 1,000 followers yet, you can start making money as soon as you get your first advertising deal or join an affiliate programme.

Instagram’s main goal is to give people a place to share their pictures and videos by adding styles, filters, and effects to them.

Kenya’s International Baccalaureate uses AI and ChatGPT

The International Baccalaureate (IB), which is a world leader in international education, is going to change the way people learn in Kenya by doing a full and collaborative study of its programmes for students aged 16 and up.

IB is making a big step towards the future of innovative education by incorporating AI into its programmes in Kenya. This will help prepare students for the future by encouraging critical thought, personalization, collaboration, and creativity.

Fidelis Nthenge, the Director of Curriculum Development, says, “We believe that b reviewing and making a curriculum that is focused on the future, we are giving our students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a global job market that is changing quickly.” The programme will give them the tools they need to be adaptable, creative, and ethical global citizens who are ready to make a difference in the world.

Harvard University reportedly said that it will use an AI tool driven by ChatGPT to help teach computer science courses for beginners. The generative AI tool called the CS50 Bot, has been given to about 70 students in the university’s beginning Computer Science class as a way to help them learn.

    Baccalaureate employs AI and ChatGPT

IB is making changes to its education programmes and ways of evaluating students so that students and teachers can use these new AI tools in an ethical and successful way. AI tools like ChatGPT offer big improvements in many areas, but the IB stresses how important it is to work with schools and teachers to help students understand the ethical implications of using AI tools in the classroom.

UNESCO says that ChatGPT has already split higher education. Many universities and states have made ChatGPT illegal because they are worried that students will copy other people’s work. Professors in higher education worry about academic honesty and the increased risk of copying and cheating if students use ChatGPT to write papers and take tests.

IB tries to give students skills they’ll need in the 21st century. IB’s constant review of its curriculum and adaptation to new technologies have a global and life-changing effect on students and teachers by making it easier for them to adjust to changing times. It helps Kenya reach its Vision 2030 goal of offering a high-quality education that is competitive on an international level for development.

Universities in the UK are making rules for how students and workers should learn about AI. IB wants its students and teachers to understand AI and be aware of the world around them. Through transformative education, the initiative’s diverse group can help make the world more peaceful and sustainable while teaching young people how to grow as individuals, with other people, and with the earth.

Altman assures ChatGPT won’t phase out job market

The IB thinks that a collaborative environment is the best way to improve education, so this study will include students, alumni, teachers, and staff. Choice, well-being, and real-world relevance will make IB programmes, topics, and exams more flexible, future-oriented, and sensitive to school and student circumstances. IB curriculum evaluation will change the way we think about education and give students opportunities that will change their lives.

IB programmes have been offered in 11 Kenyan schools for over 40 years, including MPESA Foundation Academy, Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi Academy, and others.

IB aims to foster critical thinkers, brave risk-takers, and sensitive people in a caring atmosphere.

To date, renowned personalities and global leaders from a wide range of disciplines have studied in IB schools in Kenya, where IB methodologies have given them lifelong opportunities and the sense of purpose they need to thrive and improve the world.

    AI for your side hustles

People now use AI-based products to increase productivity and make more money. It’s great.

In this trend, machine learning and AI services are used to build AI side hustles that use modern technology to make extra money.

Since there are many AI tools and services out there, you don’t have to hire a pricey team of coders to start a side business. Do you agree that it costs less than hiring a lot of people?

As a side hustle, you can start using AI tools.

    Web Development

What if I told you that you don’t need professional knowledge to start an AI web development company? AI tools can help you start and run this kind of business, so you only need basic tech skills.

First, there are a lot of AI website builders with easy-to-use interfaces that let you make beautiful, useful websites without having to know how to code.

You can make each project fit your client’s brand and goals by using drag-and-drop, pre-made layouts, and editing tools. Website builders that are run by AI use smart algorithms to speed up the building process.

These formulas make your websites faster, easier to use, and better for SEO. AI lets you offer great user experiences and make sure that your clients’ websites engage and convert their target audiences while making you money.

    Copywriting and content writing

Freelancing has been around for a long time, and several prominent sites allow people to make additional money daily. AI technology has opened up opportunities for freelancers without experience.

These AI technologies let people accomplish different tasks without looking stupid and making a living. Copy.ai, Jasper, and ChatGPT make content and copywriting easier.

Quillbot and SurferSEO enable proofreading and writing. Canva and Midjourney allow emerging artists to showcase their talents. Voice.ai and Speechify help people become successful voice-over artists. AI can perform many other tasks.

The idea is to develop engaging pitches for customers and vacant positions that show you understand their needs and can meet them using these strong AI capabilities. Try freelancing on Fiverr, Upwork, etc.

    Prompt Engineering

This side hustle has the potential to become a successful internet business and is new to the freelancing sector. AI-generated content is often questioned.

A prompt engineer does that. As a prompt engineer, you simply build and optimise AI-generated text prompts to ensure correctness and relevance across apps.

Using AI tools to experiment and fine-tune prompts can help you achieve specific results or appearances.

You may even sell prompts on freelance platforms. ChatGPT, DeepAI, and Midjourney can produce text from prompts, but outcomes vary. Thus, markets like PromptBase and Prompt Attack have emerged for AI prompt sales.

    Social media management

Businesses and customers today recognise the value of social media. They have to reach more people online. It doesn’t matter how much knowledge you have if you can make your online presence stronger. AI helps here.

A social media scheduler lets you come up with ideas, make plans, and automate posts. These tools improve customer service. HootSuite, Later, Replai, Flick, and TweetHunter all have many ways to boost your Twitter profile.

Twitter’s rivals also offer similar tools and chances. Explore the AI-powered features of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media sites to get better at managing them. To make sure your clients’ visibility and results are at their best, you need to know each platform’s features and algorithms.

AI advertising using ChatGPT might be a side business. With generative artificial intelligence, companies can use NLP (Natural Language Processing) and machine learning to build very successful advertising campaigns that reach more people and get better results.

    AI-Powered Print on Demand

AI-powered design tools like Vexels, RunwayML, Canva, and MidJourney have made it easier and faster to start a successful clothing business. Entrepreneurs can now use AI to create free designs for T-shirts, mugs, phone cases, bags, stickers, and more.

AI lets people who aren’t designers come up with themes, colour schemes, and creative tastes that can be used in a professional way.

AI-based design software learns from how people use it and what they say about it. As more creators use the site, the algorithms get better at meeting their needs. So, you can start a low-cost online business right away.
