Airtel Africa Plc has announced Carl Cruz as the new managing director and CEO of their division, Airtel Nigeria.
According to the business that is in charge of phone calls, Cruz will be taking over C. Surendran’s position as of May 5.
Cruz, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing management from the University of De La Salle in the Philippines, will also be joining the executive committee in the role of regional operational director. Cruz earned his degree in the Philippines. Cruz will primarily report to Segun Ogunsanya, Chief Executive Officer of the Airtel Africa Group, as well as the board of directors of Airtel Nigeria, which is a subsidiary of Airtel.
Ogunsanya was excited about the hire and said that Cruz’s wide range of experience will help the company grow a lot.

Cruz’s wealth of experience and the benefits to Airtel Nigeria
Cruz has more than 31 years of experience in commercial and professional activity in both Africa and Asia, according to information from the telecommunications company.
Cruz’s most recent position was that of chief executive officer and managing director of Unilever’s West African operations. According to the statement, “he was in charge of and oversaw three listed operating companies, including ones that were located in Nigeria, Ghana, and Francophone Africa.”
“He represented Unilever as a shareholder and served as an executive director on the board of Unilever Nigeria Plc in addition to serving as a non-executive director on the board of Unilever Ghana.”
Prior to this, Cruz served as the head and managing director at the Unilever Sri Lanka branch. Additionally, he held prominent positions at both Unilever Philippines and Hindustan Unilever India during his career.
